Collection and Use of Personal, Non-Personal Data

We reserve the right to log and analyze information gathered from a user’s use of the App. This information includes personal (name, email address) and non-personal data as outlined below. Non-personal data collected include your usage patterns when you interact with the App. We use tracking technologies to capture data that is intended to better understand how users interact with the App, measure the success of marketing campaigns, and to ensure that the user experience is optimized.

Personal Data Collection and Use

Personal data is collected when users provide information to us. As an example, a user may request to be added to our email communications. Additionally, when a user creates a new online account on the App, personal data, including, but not limited to, name, email address, and phone number are captured. We use this information in a number of ways as part of normal business communications. Personal data may also be used to communicate marketing or promotional information that we feel may be of interest to you. As a user, you have the option to unsubscribe from marketing or promotional email communications at any time.

Tracking Technologies

This App uses technologies like cookies, tags, scripts, and logs to capture details specific to your usage patterns when you use the App. We use third-party analytics packages to make sense of this data and understand how users interact with the App. None of the information collected is personally identifiable.

Analytics Software

We use various analytics software which all operate similarly. These applications are technology services that help us better understand your experiences on the App (e.g. how much time you spend on which screens, which buttons you choose to click, what you do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. These services use cookies and other technologies to collect data on your behavior and your devices; in particular device IP address (captured and stored only in anonymized form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), preferred language used to display the App. They store this information in a pseudonymized user profile. Neither they nor we will ever use this information to identify individual users or to match it with further data on an individual user.

Embedded content from other websites

Content on the App may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

The App may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into the App.

Personal information

We may ask for personal information, such as your:

We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration and to report aggregate information to our advertisers (i.e.. total page views and clicks, or a location breakdown of our users). This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.

How we collect information

We collect information by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. We also let you know why we’re collecting it and how it will be used. You are free to refuse our request for this information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired Services without it.

That said, we advise that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and cannot guarantee the absolute data security of any data.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is done so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on the App (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). App administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you have an account on the App, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you at any time. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

For this reason, we request that you do not send private information to us by email. However, doing so is allowed, but at your own risk. Some of the information you may enter on the App may be transmitted securely via a secure medium known as Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL. Cookies

We use cookies to help improve your experience when on the App. This cookie policy is part of our privacy policy, and covers the use of cookies between your device and the App. We also provide basic information on third-party services we may use, who may also use cookies as part of their service.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of data that an App stores on your device when you visit, typically containing information about the App itself, a unique identifier that allows the App to recognize your web browser when you return, additional data that serves the purpose of the cookie, and the lifespan of the cookie itself.

Cookies are used to enable certain features (eg. Logging in), to track App usage (eg. Analytics), to store your user settings (eg. Timezone, notification preferences), and to personalize your content (eg. Advertising, language).

Cookies set by the apps you use are normally referred to as “first-party cookies”, and typically only track your activity on that particular app. Cookies set by other apps and companies (ie. Third parties) are called “third-party cookies”, and can be used to track you on other apps that use the same third-party service.

Types of cookies and how we use them

Essential cookies

Essential cookies are crucial to your experience of an app, enabling core features like user logins, account management, shopping carts and payment processing. With your consent, we use essential cookies to enable certain functions on the app.

Performance cookies

Performance cookies are used in the tracking of how you use an app while engaged, without collecting personal information about you. Typically, this information is anonymous and aggregated with information tracked across all App users, to help companies understand visitor usage patterns, identify and diagnose problems or errors their users may encounter, and make better strategic decisions in improving their audience’s overall app experience. These cookies may be set by the app you’re visiting (first-party) or by third-party services. With your consent, we use performance cookies on the App.

Functionality cookies

Functionality cookies are used in collecting information about your device and any settings you may configure on the app you’re using (like language and time zone settings). With this information, apps can provide you with customized, enhanced or optimized content and services. These cookies may be set by the app you’re visiting (first-party) or by third-party service. With your consent, we use functionality cookies for selected features on the App.

Targeting/advertising cookies

Targeting/advertising cookies are used in determining what promotional content is more relevant and appropriate to you and your interests. Apps may use them to deliver targeted advertising or to limit the number of times you see an advertisement. This helps companies improve the effectiveness of their campaigns and the quality of content presented to you. These cookies may be set by the app you’re visiting (first-party) or by third-party services. Targeting/advertising cookies set by third-parties may be used to track you on other apps that use the same third-party service. With your consent, we use targeting/advertising cookies on the App.

Third-party cookies on the App

We may employ third-party companies and individuals on the App —for example, analytics providers and content partners. We grant these third parties access to selected information to perform specific tasks on our behalf. They may also set third-party cookies in order to deliver the services they are providing. Third-party cookies can be used to track you on other apps that use the same third-party service.

Upon your acceptance of our use of cookies, we will use “cookies” to collect information about you and your activity across the App. A cookie is a small piece of data that the App stores on your computer, and accesses each time you visit, so we can understand how you use the App. This helps us serve you content based on preferences you have specified.

If you leave a comment on the App you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies may last for up to one year.

If you have an account and you log in to the App, we may set a temporary cookie. This cookie contains no personal data and may be discarded when you close the App.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited.

How you can control or opt out of cookies

If you don’t wish to accept cookies from us, you have the option to reject the use of cookies when first opening the App, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired content and services. If you accept viewing the App with cookies, click the “Accept” button. If at a later date you change your mind and do not want the use of cookies on the App, you can update your preferences in your mobile device settings. The “Accept” consent will be set indefinitely.
